A recent movie was causing a lot of controversy in the Latino community. The film showed Latinos as violent and lazy. This film was accused of reinforcing negative stereotypes. Barrio Expressions allowed people to voice their opinion. 

Many Latinos believed the media was ignoring them and misrepresenting them. Barrio Expression covered what big mainstream media wouldn’t. Latinos wanted to share their culture with the world. Barrio Expressions provided them with a platform. Latinos could voice their thoughts and beliefs on Barrio Expressions
